Flying the Alps

I planned a trip to find and fly over the famous mountains of the Swiss Alps. Google Earth is helpful in locating the mountains and giving the headings and mileage for planning the trip. The map in the aircraft can be used to validate the location ( longitude & latitude readings) of the mountains. I took off from Scion, Switzerland ( LSGS ) landed at Interlaken, Switzerland (LSMI). Many of the airports are beautifully set in deep valleys. Thanks for looking. Cheers, Mike ;)

Mt. Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps at 15,782' located under the aircraft's right wing.

The Matterhorn has a distinctive triangle tip summit, shown under left wing.

My favorite, the Eiger North Face in the background, remember the movie "The Eiger Sanction" with Clint Eastwood. Some will remember it was 1975.

Zulumike, this is FSX in your screenshots, right ?
If so, I would recommend you to download three things for making this particular area much more beautifull:

- The famous LOD11 mesh that covers all of the Alps, here: http://c30s.alpes.gratisim.fr/
(I think it has not been uploaded to SimV yet, has it ? )
Don't forget to set your mesh resolution to 10 meters after that ;)

- The mountain mod, as discussed in this topic:
http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaB ... 044506/0#0
(the included screenshtos will show you the results)

- the "Glaciers Suisses" scenery that you can see on the first link I gave above. This will bring some of the major glaciers in photoreal, very cool to discover them while you fly. Some of them are directly alongside the valley of Sion, so you'll spot them easilly :)

Good downloading ;)

Thanks Daube for the scenery information. I really like the Alps area
and glad that there are programs that can enhance this scenery. I will definitely download these add ons.

Cheers, Mike  ;)

Hmmm... I did a flight with the 123 around the Everest, for a landing in Luklha, and that was pretty nice :)
