FSX is the next best thing after Rock&Roll

A few words before the shot....

The last few months I flew many flights not using the GPS.

NDB approaches & Navigation, VOR approaches & Navigation, ILS approaches using Glide slopes etc. in my opinion are far more entertaining then GPS.

I also avoid Autopilot, hands on approach however, the correct usage of trim takes alot of work away from me.

I took a flight last night from PHDL to PHLI. Loaded up 10 paxs, me & co-pilot (FSpX). Co-Pilot handles communication instructions & I fly.

Shortly after take-off we resumed runway heading towards the east till we passed 2000 feet. Banked gently towards the west. Nav radios were set before take-off
& heading set as per map.

climbing out of Dillingham to the east is a joy, spectacular ocean reefs (Use REX for effect) on the left and lovely mountains (Use Hawaii Megascenery for effect) to the right

Climbed to 6000 feet before I leveled off, trimmed the engine for level flight. It is sad that FSX/FSpX does not take incorrect RPM's/Manifold press. seriously enough.

I was on VFR so I cancelled my flight following with Honolulu (30nm's out) & switched to PHLI approach freq. requesting permission to land.

Got instructions right downwind runway 35. The winds were calm so no need to worry about bonkers FSX ATC requests or heavy rudder adjustments.

I found using VOR/ILS the approaches goes much smoother. I have less activity on the throttle to make decent/climb adjustments. VASI lights stay cool & calm.

Head in, got markers beeping & got minimums. Flared gently and touched her down quitly, pitch angle at 3 degrees & touchdown @ 83 f/m. That at 140 km/h.

FSX is a true joy in life.....

Here I am on final (Only shot I managed to take in the busy schedule):

Love the shot! Also, nice repaint! The only thing I don't like about the default Caravan is when you taxi you just barely tap the throttle and it's ready to takeoff!  ;D

Yeah, great combo for flying. I have the same add ons and I fly out of Dillingham and around the island coast back to Dillingham all the time!
