Destination Mauritius

Postby JakesF14 » Mon Apr 19, 2010 1:19 am

I flew from Cape Town Int'l to Mauritius last night, and had quite an experience. Well, the departure and general flight was normal, as well as the decent, but when I entered the circuit, and lower the flaps, things started to happen.. With gear out, and flaps at 25, I could not get a normal decent rate. heavy winds also played a part. on Final, with full flaps, something was terrebilly wrong. Speed wouldn't go lower than 185KIAS, throttles cut, and nose pitched so high I couldnt believe it. Now it was night as well. Doing the right thing, throttle up, flaps up, go - around! I had to make a flapless landing at night with heavy wind. All's well if it end well. I was safe on the ground.
I found out later that there is some flap error in the CFG.. replaced it with the default 737, now she is ready to fly again....

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
