Ketchikan "PAKT" to Hydaburg "HYG" Alaska
Dawn flight in De Havilland 1947 DHC-2 Beaver
Light utility aircraft better known as the half-ton truck of bush aircraft even though the useful load with a Pratt & Whitney R-985 producing 450 HP was 2100 lbs.

Most bush pilot's started their days in the early morning dawn prior to the fog rolling in and flew until sunset.

Fuelled and leaving Ketchikan.

Looks like you started out doing a little scud-running - good stuff - forces you to pay attention.

Hi "Olderndirt"

Never got checked out in the DHC-2 Beaver as I flew the DHC-3 Otter a lot.  The water rudders do not appear to go all the way up on this Beaver and the real Beavers I flew in I am not sure just how far up the water rudders went.

Lots of times we started flying in the early morning dawn and then the fog rolled in.  Breakfast time, ham, sausage, bacon, eggs, fried potatoes with onions, peppers, celery and lots of garlic.  I figured if I went down and ran into a big nasty bear I would kiss it and he would run away from the smell of my breath.   ;D

All the shots are really cool. The first one is simply awesome. I said it already in the other topic, but this was an excellent choice of plane and scenery. The weather is interesting as well, just like you water settings.
You're getting good at this screenshot job, I tell you ;)

But still, you need to do something about this JPEG compression.

The Beaver! Nice shots Doug. Is it true there are only about 600 left in North America? It's what I've read somewhere.

Hi Steve... :)

Will see what I can find out for you as many are converted with different engine types now so that figure might be a little low.... ;)
