Sorry for not adding text to my post, wanted to get the screenie up in time.

Shot was taken in FS9 using the default C172. The foreground is from a series of panel.bmps that can be added to any panel.

Hope you enjoy it, I think it meets the theme criteria.

regards,
Joe

Nice shot, but I don't think this shot is going to qualify. Rules state NO EDITING

Yo Bob, this shot is un-edited with the exception of being resized to fit forum guidelines.

Well Joe you said yourself "The foreground is from a series of panel.bmps that can be added to any panel." That sounds to me like editing but It's up to Dave to make the call. He's running the show. ;) I really do like the shot though.

I think editing is altering the photo after it is taken. :)

What he means is he changed the 2D panel so it looked like this :P So it isn't edited and it is looking out of a window so i think it counts!

+1 FOR GREAT CREATIVITY

I forgot all about this addon, you would love it Bob!

It replaces the 2d panel of any plane with what you see in his pic. ;)

There are several 'windows' to choose from. It makes spotting at your favorite airport, a little more 'homey'.  8-)

Nice one Joe.
Good luck! :)

Well way to go Joe. I learn something new everyday. I'd like to learn how to do this myself. Any chance you could post the step by step process to create this type of screen-shot?

Thanks to all for the kind comments!

It's a pretty simple modification, really. You add the .bmps to your panel folder and edit the panel.cfg.

Then you go park your plane somewhere and press W twice to turn off the 2D panel. Then you bring up this foreground, or 1 of the others, just like you bring up the GPS or the radio stack.

The file is from Avsim and here is a link - http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=63128

I had forgotten about it until a few days ago when I stumbled across it in the deep, dark reaches of my hard drive while looking for something unrelated. Seemed the perfect opportunity to use it.

regards,
Joe

Thanks a bunch Joe. This is really cool. If I hadn't questioned your screen-shot I'd have never known about this little trick.  [smiley=beer.gif]
