BMI Airbus over Manchester. Sorry about the quality. Getting 1440 x 900 resolution down to SimV specs is difficult!

You ought to try 1680 x 1050 x 32. And we won't even speak of those guys with the monitors that can hit 1900 x 1200, or whatever the highest resolution is...

Wow ! This is surely one of the greatest photoreal repaints I've seen recently. Which airbus is that ? It's not the default FSX one, is it ?

I agree with Daube! If that's the default Airbus, someone has some serious skills at repaints. :o

My monitors will hit 1900X1200, but I learned long ago that just running FSX & FS9 at 1024x768 means that I don't take the same giant pixel smashing hit on my screenshots, that I do with higher resolutions. And it's not my software either, I use PSP9 & PS7 to do my compressing.  ;)

Of course 1024x768 doesn't look as nice as the higher resolutions while running the game, but it's impossible to see those higher resolutions here at SimV without out-linking the shot from another website, or having a tiny shot.

This is a losing case on my point, as most seem to prefer the higher resolution look while flying, but if you're just out to take screenies, and win comps here, then that giant compression hit, that high resolution pics require to get down to size here, is a definite disadvantage In my personal opinion.

Any secrets for compression from those that do run & take shots at high resolution? :)

For some serious compression

Crash ;)

I'm sorry. It will not happen again....

When you take a screenshot at high resolution, there are some rules to convert it to JPEG:
- first: you must use a serious tool, like PAINT.NET or Gimp. Not the default MS-Paint included in Windows...
- second: you must first resize your screenshot to 1024 wide, before doing anything else.
- third: when you sae your screenshot and choose the JPEG format, you should then be able to see a slider or an option in the save popup that will allow you to thune the compression. You have to select the smallest possible compression that will not exceed the filesize limit here at SimV.

That's all.

This is the step that always kills my larger shots, it seems crunching a large shot down to this size creates jaggies and other wierd artifacts, especially over detailed terrain such as cities & mountains.

It's usually not the compression that kills me, it's the resizing itself. :-/

Is there a resizing method that will reduce the size, without causing these problems.

These shots almost look real. Without the compression, they must be amazing.

I wish these planes had VCs or a FSX model.

I like everyone of those pics.  The detailing on that bird is great. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
