Ok, I'll ask the question. What aircraft is that?

Appears to be a Grumman C-2 Greyhound

Thanks Andrew. A new one on me. Looks like a bit of a lash-up. I wondered if it was a fictional type.

Don't know what you mean by 'lash-up' but it is/was not fictional. The C-2 Greyhound is a derivative of the E-2 Hawkeye and replaced the piston-engined C-1 Trader in the Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) role. I've seen them in several TV shows and movies, so I was familiar with it.

I know that as I read Andrew's link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C-2_Greyhound
Despite its looks it appears to be a very effective aircraft.

The dictionary definition of lash-up:  something hastily put together or improvised

You certainly doubt whether or not it's a fictional airplane when you have one buzz your car, less than 50ft above.

Nice shots of an airplane not often seen. :)
