North American F-107 Edwards Air Force Base
The North American F-107, nicknamed the 'super super sabre' was an experimental fighter-bomber aircraft developed in the early to mid 1950s.
Based on the Super Sabre, it was intended to enter military service in the USAF in the late 1950s, but it was decided that the F-105 Thunderchief was a more capable military aircraft and pre-production orders were cancelled. After this, the aircraft was used for high altitude and high speed experiments, as its max ceiling was 58,000 ft and had a top speed of Mach 2.28.
