What would you do?

Ok, so I have FSX and Acceleration installed and a fresh install of XP and everything is set up EXACTLY as NickN as specified.

I fire up FSX for the first time, no addons at all. I don't even go near the settings section, so whatever it decided to set itself to, is where I have left it.

I selected the default Maul, chose my home airport, and headed out following I70 west.

This is what I saw, completely smooth and stutter free. :o :)

I figured, ok, this looks great for low & slow flying, but I bet the moment I go high & fast, the good times are over with. :-/

So I loaded up the default 737, in mid air, cracked the throttle, pulled back on the stick and climbed a bit then zoomed out and brought up the info text.

It stayed pretty much pegged at 20 the whole time, the exception being when I would swivel the view quickly, then it dropped to 18.

Now, the question is, if it were you, would you look a gift horse in the mouth and start adding stuff, or just be thankful it looks and runs this good, and save the addons for FS9? ;D ;)

Can't decide what to do. :-/

[color=#000000]The only suggestion I have is what I would do if I had to start over from scratch. EVERY time I added an aircraft, or scenery or made a change to settings, aircraft.cfg or anything, I would make a note of exactly what I did and the date and time.

Cheers all!

@ Layne:

-Payware is out of the question for my FSX, I already spent all the money on a ton of payware for FS9. I had such a hard time running FSX before the reinstall, I felt it would just be a waste of money. ;)
But man would I LOVE to have REX & FTX after seeing all the wonderful shots that get posted here. :-[

@Scalper:

-I had to look at what FSX had set itself to, and boy are those sliders low!

Shane, your shots shows the exact reason why I went over to FSX. You are right, my true FSX models (only have three as far as I know :P: Alrots 727, Alrots Citation and LDS' 763) works much better than my pile of FS9 models. The next time I reinstall FSX, it's gonna be after Nick's guide. No doubt about that.

But as I only fly high & fast, I don't have any FPS problems either. (Except for landings and takeoffs in detailed areas.. the FPS numbers sends chills down my spine. But then again, my computer is just a laptop and above laptop average AND I have a lot of AI, so... but i'm happy with my results too.)

Yeah, keep your payware in FS9 and your FSX clean. It'll help you alot. :D

Hmm...still looks good, but no doubt that if you got payware it would look noticably better. Depends on how much you're willing to spend I suppose.
