Congo spire:

Image

Lat. S 0*31.65, Long. E20* 9.37, Elevation, main spire, 24,000 feet.  Yes 24 THOUSAND feet.

Visible from FZGN, Boende, Congo, heading 250.

Looks like a nice place to build a space port. ;)

Woah, what the heck is that? haha. Sure does look like a great spot for a space port! Or make a great spot for base jumping!  ;D

A result of tectonic movement.

Albeit a rather surprising one.

Pendercraft FS2004  Land of the Giants "Spindrift" Demo.  Though I havent seen a release of a final product yet.  It needed FX tweakage to use in FSX, though.

Works as-is in FS9, but it's a demo, no VC, no instrumentation except for a GPS.

Flies like a bat out of hades, too.  No, I take that back.  It blows the fur off the bat, and then roasts it in the exhaust blast. I think I've gotten it up to 1700+ KIAS at about 5000 feet, and cruised across the Atlantic on the Equator at 1400 KIAS at about 25 feet in a bit over two hours, give or take (I was feeling silly that day, but managed to set the stab trim perfectly and only gained about a foot or so in altitude for the trip).

The spire and chasm in FS9 scares the crap outta me. 80,000ft high and 100,000ft deep... :-[ :-[

I tried to find the Pendercraft site, but I think it's defunct. I'll have to see if it's in my download archive and if you like, send you the .zip. It may take a few days, my home computer is getting a "perfessional cleansing".

Thanks BOikat. I'd appreciate that. No hurry. One of my flight computers was fried after a re-power up after a power outage that hit north central Ohio about 2 weeks ago,so I am down to one computer to run my sim. The one that was fried had a LOT (200 gig ) of my add-ons stored on its hard drive. ANYWAY,hahaha...if you can find the zip,I'd be quite happy. If you cant,I still appreciate the attempt. I did download MMr. Pendercrafts Flying sub from the TV show Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. That makes about the 4th time I downloaded it. Hoping the air file was improved. It has autopilot, but it wont maintain altitude,or vertical speed. In banking while on autopilot,it decends like a rock rather than keeping altitude, and it banks to nearly 90 degrees, and knifes down vertically like a skipping stone. I really like the craft. Even did a black diamond repaint on it (charcoal black with a super reflective shine) , but all is for naught if she doesnt fly well,...and it doesnt.
