I installed FS 98, first thing I thought was that it wasn't too bad, good frame rates at least. Though I don't like the aircraft. The scenry looksa bit pixelated as well.

Wow. I used to love to fly that sim when I was little. When I got my first joystick for it I thought it was great. Now we have FSX. The difference is incredible.

8-)

My joystick doesn't seem to work with it for some reason.

I got that game when I was 16. The way FSX might take your breath away now is the same feeling I was having about FS98 when I first loaded it up. I remember specifically thinking, "wow,  the clouds look awesome!"

Only bad thing was,  when you flew into them, the screen turned completely white.

Wow!  I should install my FS98 just for fun.  I'm running both 2004 and X right now, so I don't think one more should hurt.

My first flight sim was this one on a C64 :)

When FS2 came out it was a real improvment.

(And yes, I am already this old) ;)

And here is another one I used to play when I was little:

Aww.. thinking of I only flew FS2004 and FSX.. I understand this was great for its age.. now, we would be like "omg barbeque look at the ground textures, scenery, autogen, clouds, aircraft and water" :( FS98 was probably great back in those days.

Damn that is old!

So how did you run that? Windows 3.0? or DOS Prompt?

Neither Windows, nor DOS. Although the C64 had an interface that could be described as similar to a very simple version of DOS.

It was called C64, because it had 64 kilobites of memory - that is roughly half the size of the screenshots that are posted here. So you can imagine the quality and complexity of the games it could run.  ;)
