Hmmm, glad you asked Hagar.  :) Perhaps a better place for the photo... and the Planespotters quiz would be here:

My feelings on new sections of this forum should be well known by now.  There are simply far too many different ones as it is. :P

I think we already have a suitable place for these quizzes. The Specific Aircraft Types forum.

I think it should be a case of quality, not quantity. The number of forums is irrelevant if the goal is to introduce one that would be interesting to all, frequently visited and enhance members experience here at V. Imagine a museum curator turning down an opportunity to add a fascinating exhibit because he felt he had enough already.  :P

That usually means less, not more. ;)

My point is that we have a large number of forums that seemed a good idea at the time but which are hardly used at all now. At my last count we had almost 50 sections in 12 different categories. That's an awful lot of forums to trawl through if you wish to post something. I've been a regular here for longer than I care to remember & even I still don't know the correct place to post some topics. It's usually a matter of pot luck.

I don't know how it works but I'm not sure any of these can be removed or condensed without losing all the previous topics which might or might not be important. I remember having a similar discussion on adding a History forum. I was the only one against it & was outvoted. I ended up being one of the most regular contributors. It was very lively for a while until some of the regulars left, including the member that proposed it. It's not used very much at all now.

As always this is my personal opinion. You must do as you think best. ;)

As usual, a most diplomatic response Hagar.  :) I don't dis-agree with you concerning a few of the less frequented forums, my goal here though is to introduce a potentially fun and enjoyable forum to everyone. If it proves to be unpopular, there's no reason it can't be deleted. Concensus to this point shows 22 members interested, 4 not quite sure and 2 opposed. What say we let it fly and  keep an eye?

Give it a go by all means. You don't need my approval to do anything. I don't recall voting on this subject & this is the only place I've commented on it as you asked for my opinion. ;)

One thing occurs to me. Who decides what belongs in the new forum? I already have enough problems figuring out the correct place to post topics (never did understand the difference between General Discussion & the Cafe). People already get upset when their topics are moved. What some people regard as trivia might be very important to others. :P

Hagar, it was actually your initial comment in the Cafe poll last month
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2 ... 1219624685
that made me think that this new forum may not be appropriate. But it seems that the general concensus is positive. Thank you for your opinion, it is important as you're as close to the heartbeat of SimV as anyone could be.  :)

I'm not allowed in there for some reason. :D

Can't say I recall that poll or my initial comment but then I don't remember much about what I did yesterday, let alone last month. ::) ;)

You're welcome to the opinion for what it's worth. Nobody takes much notice of me any more, if they ever did. ;)

You are one of several people here whose words and opinions I respect and follow closely on all matters of flight sim. When in doubt, follow those with the greater experience! ;)
