I know my default weather sux, but I still thought this looked pretty neat!

taken from 800,000ft

it would be interesting to see this shot from someone who has a better looking weather program.

(my weather is maxed out in these shots!)

Interesting views! I like to take up my "hurricane Hunter" C-130 and fly into the storm just like they really do. I did that with TS Fay a week ago. Came out with some cool looking shots!

Lets just say it was easier to fly at this altitude than it was down in that soup!

Anybody with Flight Enviroment got a screen for this? :-?

I used the map to put myself at 800,000ft and used an external camera view

. From what I seen weather won't show in top down view.

When I took this it was over Cuba so I took off at Havana, So I guess now New Orleans would be the best place since it's the closest.

At this very moment, Gustav is due south of Mobile, AL and/or Pensacola, FL. They are close to eachother. So, you could take off from either of those 2 places, and go directly south!

Well, new orleans is clear with 50m visibility according to jeppeson real world up to the minute updates from jeppeson weather thingy. Went out and about of the coast of florida, quite a way out, still clear......hmmm. Not sure jeppeson real world weather is as real as its suggesting maybe?
Can i change it to look elsewhere? i.e not jeppeson but some other real word weather thingy?

I believe there are other places to get updates, but i wouldnt be able to tell you where.
I know what you mean about it not being very real. When TS Fay was over Florida, I went for a flight from the Keys... which at the time Fay was directly over. Jeppeson said there were just scattered clouds. Ummmmkkkaaayyyy!!!

Well, someone should tell Jeppesson maybe...
I looked on a site which gives the posistion of Gustav, and it still seemed out at sea, not near New Orleans, not yet anyway.
