Hehe :)
From time to time I fly this nice little aircraft. Outstanding VC, ultra-cool external model, real HUD with real velocity vector (the one and only freeware in the whole FS history to have one)... just took some shots, wanted to share.

Enjoy :)

That's not a Ching Kuo....it's a Mitsubishi F-2.  It's an F-16 with a big wing and a different canopy...

Great shots btw

Thanks for the kind comments :)
That plane is definitely one of the best freeware addons out there. The only drawback is... a HUGE FPS hit :/

What do you mean? How much do you have with it?

I have something like 10 FPS less than usual.
My FPS are usually locked at 26, but when I fly this aircraft, they drop down to 17, and sometimes even to 12 only :/
I believe the gauges are responsible. It is clearly stated in the readme that the HUD and the 3D pilot are ressources-hungry.

In other terms, I have two possibilities:
- wait for a real FSX-SP2 version of that plane
- overclock my poor Q6600 to make it reach some decent speeds.
... going for the 2nd choice of course :)

"Poor" Q6600? I got the Core2Quad Q6600 and have o problems at all.

...but with FSX, who knows. Just have FS9 with great peformance and would like to remain on that sim though.

The Q6600 is a poor CPU:
- it's very cheap
- the core speed is very low: only 2,4 GHz.

Thuth is, if you start FSX on such a CPU, you will not get good FPS until you start overclocking it. Even with 4 cores, 2,4 GHz is too slow.

Then comes the good point: the Q6600 can be overclocked easilly up to 3 GHz and more :)
