The " Smoke" is either condensation or vapour But someone else will probably be better in explaining that then me...

That's because it's a design based off of the Lockheed Martin F-16 series of planes; licensed by Mitsubishi. It's a MUCH larger plane than the F-16; but still has very comparable performance. It's meant more for a pure Ground-Attack role, where-as the F-16 is more of both.
