Beautiful looking sky and great perspective on the jet!  :)

However, the colors look kind of off on the plane.  They look a little too bright. Also, wasn't the cold war over before they started using 747s for Air Force One? I think the first set of 747s was adopted in 1990.

'90 to '91 was it's production period actually.

Nice shot and excellent colours and perspective.  :)

Just to point out a few technical details:

The 747 in your shot has winglets, and is too long. Both 28000 & 29000 use a -300 fuselage, with a -200 hump and -400 engines. The font is also too large, the Stars and Bars are too large (and upside down) and there is too much sweep on the blue area at the front. ;)

Well I thought of the reunion of the DDR and West-Germany on 3rd of october 1990 (the first 747 was put into servicec a few weeks before). But yes: the wall fell almost one year before, which could be seen as the end of the cold war... At least the B747 was build and tested as Air Force One during the "cold times".
I'll think about the colors you mentioned next month, trying to improof myself

Too long? Are you quite sure?

As far as im aware, theres only one 747 with a different length fuselage, and thats the 747SP.

Wether its 100, 100SR, 200, 200B, 300, 400 and all its various F variants, they are all the same length.

The upper deck however......

The colours and the background are very good btw ;)

Thanks alot!

I'm not good in seperating the several types of an aircraft; and if you look closer the one I pictured is the 86-8900 (and not the '-8800') which was commissioned in March '91... But it's the idea I think that counts - and the whole 747s are at least build in the cold war era. Just thought a AFO would fit/is missing in this contest

Yep its an interesting choice, Air Force One. You could however have chosen the 707 version, Which i think came around JFK's time, and on till obviously it was replaced.

However, theres so many different 707's, and so many engine pylons let alone dorsal fin extensions and engine choices.........it doesnt bear thinking about!

A good google search would be in order to ensure whatever model is chosen, that it would be correct!

Greorgies plane is based on 747-200Bs - that's why they are not wearing winglets. They are called VC-25A. Only the -400s are having winglets.

1st flight was on 05/16/1987, so they'd fit in. There are some AF1 out on the web based on Posky's V3 model, but as far as I know they'll release the VC-25A (V4) soon.

Cheers and welcome to the V,

Fabian

Its true that the -400 has winglets, but not all 400's actually have them.

The 400D doesnt have winglets - and as far as im aware the 400F can come without them also :D

But then the -400F has the fuselage of the 200, so it gets the shorter upper deck :D
