Tupolev 154-B2 Kai Tak approach [ 1 of 2 ]

Postby Kartoffelsalatatatat » Fri Jan 18, 2008 3:59 pm

Part one of a two-part series of me trying to do the famous IGS 13 into VHHX. The aeroplane is the Tupolev Tu-154B2 available at Project Tupolev. The scenery is 9Dragons' Kai Tak Airport. Info & Download.

Image
Over the East Lamma Channel. We're looking over the captains shoulder. To our 10 o'clock we see the Ma Tsing bridge.

Image
Landing lights extended and on. Nope, we don't have the best weather in here. Luckily we have IGS to guide us down to the checkerboard.

Image
Again, we look over the captains shoulder. We have intercepted the glideslope ( sort off... ) and are now almost over Kowloon.

Image
Yep, thats the same Ma Tsing bridge as we saw before.

Image
With flaps fully extended, and an airspeed of about 270 Km/h, we start the famous 47o degree turn to line up with the runway.

Image
View from the flight deck. Even though we have followed the IGS quite reasonably, PAPI says we are to high.  We're also a bit far right. This certainly won't be a soft landing.

As always, C 'n C welcome!

KS.

Err. This is your captain speaking. There is absolutely no cause for alarm.

The wings are not on fire.

Definately. It must be some kind of a bug, as I do have backlighting in the 2d panel.

Here is how to fix the VC lights on the 154b2:

In [LIGHTS] section of aircraft.cfg change line 7 to
light.7=4, 68.5, 0.00, 6.50, fx_vclighth ,

i.e. fx_vclighth instead of fx_vclight

(taken from Project Tupolev forum)
