More fiddling with Fiddlers

A while back I showed some screens of some WIP paints for Samdim's beautiful Tu-128. I've done a few minor updates to the paints since then, to make them as realistic as I could. A few people suggested more weathering was needed, so that's exactly what I did. I went back and added some more dirt streaks, rust spots, etc. and roughed up the stars on the tail and wings. Now the paints have reached a point where I'm satisfied enough with the results to call them 'done'.

I took some screenies, but sadly a lot of the smaller details are difficult to appreciate in an 800x600 still shot. You can see the details so much better when you're actually viewing it in-game and from all angles.

Aside from the Red 01 and Blue 14 paints I showed earlier, I also made a paint representing the third prototype of the Tu-128.

The reason I posted these screens is because I'd like to know if these paints are good enough for release. If I do release them, they'll be exactly as they look in these shots. As I said before, I'm happy enough with them for my own personal use, so it's unlikely I'll change/fix anything at this point unless I feel it really needs to be changed.

Some more reference material just in case... gear assembly on these is light blue with brownish flexible hoses

Missiles have red safety covers on the sensitive parts (leading edge, end of fins, seeker head)

Detail pictures (the Monino one... which is very diry and rusty):

Thanks a ton for the great reference pics, Ivan. I was mainly using A.net pics and the Wings Palette profiles as reference, which made things a bit confusing as far as the prototype scheme went (WP showed a dark olive nose, Monino birds had a more bright pine green), especially since #3 isn't on display. Also didn't notice the blue gear struts and white missile panel.

I'd like these to be realistic, so I'll definitely be fixing the proto scheme to more closely match the Monino ones.

Thank you two! I'm really looking forward to those, incredible work so far.

Update! Using Ivan's excellent pictures, I've made the prototype scheme a bit more realistic by painting the nose in the more saturated green colour. The gear struts have also been painted in that faint blue colour (a bit hard to notice in the screen), the gear wells have been painted brown (as in the pics) and the missiles have been updated.

I think it's ready now for release, but I'll wait to see opinions first. I don't know if I should release them all in one pack (as in my 737 pack), or as separate textures.

EDIT: Just noticed I forgot to remove the red stripe from the R-4R missiles. That will be fixed for release.

Struts colors are standardized... but they did overdo the paint colors at monino to have less repainting rounds (with non-standard paints).

Better use the following picture (if it doesnt work go to the site)

These are from a Russian Knights Su-27, which is IMO the standard for a well-serviced indigenous plane (export can have different colors!!!). Blue color on the inside of the door looks to be the one that they intended to re-create at Monino

I've gone and extended the strut colours to all the paints now, so all have blue struts (the two operational schemes have a more toned down blue, however). Luckily, the blue I chose is almost spot-on to the one seen in the Flanker photos. Thank you very much for all your help, Ivan. Your expertise has made these paints that much more realistic. :)

If there's nothing else that needs touching-up, I think I can begin packaging these for release. I've also been wondering if it would be a good idea to make export schemes as well (all fictional, of course), probably for release as a second pack.

Has it been uploaded already or are you still tweaking it...

I'm making a few fictional export schemes (GDR, Iraq, China, DPRK) first, as well as the regular pre-upload checks to see if there's any more small details/fixes required.

Only the DPRK scheme needs finished, so expect it to show up at the usual sites within the week. After that, any more repaints will be in separate packs.
