Caribbean Hop Leg XI
Posted: Mon Oct 15, 2007 9:02 pmFinally got away from my PC problems (for the millionth time) so I'm back to hopping around the West Indies again.
This 11th hop takes me from Port-au-Prince Intl, Haiti, to Norman Manley Intl, Kingston, Jamaica in a new AA 727 by Vistaliners (thanks to that wonderful recommendation from Franscal and numerous hints that my last paint was a bit too shiny
) shortly after 10 that morning.
Forecast calls for layers of broken clouds at 5, 12, 20 and 32 thousand feet with cirrus at 40+ with a few light winds from the NE. All in all a lovely day for cruising on westward.
Tower instructs that I hold short of 10, traffic is Cessna Grand Caravan on the runway. Another Caravan and Beech Baron in queue.

Turning over the near barren mountains of Haiti to heading 270; onwards to Jamaica 'mon!

Still climbing to cruise altitude in between clouds. Quite pretty up here. Lovely crystal blue Caribbean sky above.

Turning and descending into the approach for Kingston. Jamaica's eastern coast in sight along with the deep blue, calm sea below.

Descending past the beautiful Blue Mountains of Jamaica (known for its rich coffee beans and so named because they look blue through the mist at a distance)

Touchdown, R30, Norman Manley Intl, in the land of Bob Marley, around 11, as an Air Jamaican Express Dash 8 taxis to the active.

Next trip sees me leaving the beloved 727 for something new, on my way to Cuba!
