Layne the P-61 was a 'purpose' built nightfighter, I beleive! ;)

Cool shot, some light clouds would've been nice!

Used in both theaters during WWII, the P-61, although being the first purpose built nightfighter the US had built, it entered service too late to make a difference. In its limited usage, it DID score a few kills, amongst those, several Betties, but otherwise, I am not surprised that you have never heard of it, it is seldom talked about, and was never a "showstopper" like the B-29.

Probably because the only WWII era aircraft i actually try and learn about are RAF ones and the P-51 and the FLying Fortress.

RAF as in B-25, Spitfire, Hurricane etc... But still the P-61 looks like an interesting aircraft :o

You do realise the B-25's main operator was the USAAF? Not the RAF. It was produced in America too. ;)
