...D18S by Milton Shupe. Can I just say this is one beautiful aircraft that works perfectly in FSX. Just two for now! Enjoy...

BTW, does anyone know where I can get a realistic soundset for this aircraft?

Cheers

Excellent choice of aircraft Mitch! And the lighting in the first shot is really sweet ...

I just love the D-18! I have over 100 repaints for it ::) ;D

I used her in the beginning of my Tour of the Pacific Coast before I switched aircraft with TSC at Akhiok. Nice to see you installed the replacement wing textures (or did you install the 32 bit version?) Anyways, I think they just make the plane a little more attractive to look at than the default wings.

BTW, does anyone know where I can get a realistic soundset for this aircraft?

The suggested soundset for the D-18 is that of the Gee Bee Racer. I think it is also in the readme that comes with the plane.

If you need anything on the D-18, please don't hesitate to ask ;)

Definitely a beautiful plane.

How's the panel on that plane? I've only ever seen external shots of the airplane.

Have a VC?

I concur! Flew the Canadian last night playing tag with an AI Cherokee ::)

Over 100? Man, that is one popular plane for repaints!

The suggested soundset for the D-18 is that of the Gee Bee Racer.

Hmm? Tried the ones in SimV. Not realistic. Will try the one you mentioned. Also need to change the interior with a download I have.

It sure is a great plane. Harold, do you know of a KLM repaint for the D18S? If it exists where can I find it?

Crash ;)

No I am sorry Carlo, a KLM livery might exist but I've never came across one. You might want to ask Jan Kees if he would do a fictional KLM livery for the D-18.
There are two Dutch repaints for the D-18 though (see below). The first is an airforce bird and the second is the naval version.

I don't remember where I got them but if you want them, please send me an e-mail and I'll reply with these two as attachment.

Thanks guys for the comments! :)

Thanks Kip for the sound, but I thought Milton Shupe and the rest were going to make a realistic soundset for this aircraft? :-?

Yes, Harold, thanks for the sound tip. Way better than the default.

I'm surprised that they didn't do a realistic sound for this AC. Sure did a great job with the Howard 500 and its sound.

Mitch,

Great aircraft and great shots.  I am sure someone is going to hang me by my gills for this, but until you get to the twin rudders, does this aircraft look like a mini-DC-3 or what?  I don't mean that as an insult to either aircraft, but it is the first thing I thought of when seeing it.

Ah, well.  Great shots.  I especially like the "mood" of the second shot.

I can understand your think in Darrin, but I don't think it looks like a DC-3 even when you don't consider the rudders. A DC-3 is much larger (longer and wider) than a D-18 and its nose is less stretched than that of the D-18.

But still they are similar in a way, they're both big twins from the 40's, therefore they both have this classic feel over them.

If you think a D-18 looks similar to a DC-3 take a look at a Curtiss C-46 Commando ::)
