Is it me? or is that first shot one of the best you have seen come out of FSX? That has really left me speechless...  :)

That Beaver is a payware quality model that's worth the price of FSX, all by itself.

Being able to fly it from the virtual cockpit, in a graphical environment like those screenshots, easily justifies the cost of the hardware. Even on my ancient hardware, flying the Beaver is more like flying for real, than anything I've experienced on a desktop simulator, yet.

G R E A T  shots, Nick   :)

Wow! These shots are right up my alley. Beautiful. This is the the quality of screen-shots that I'm working at trying to achieve. If you had made this months contest you would have made the finals.

Brett is absolutely correct about FSX and that aircraft. Bar none it is one of the most realistic handling/looking aircraft simulations you can fly to date.

I was asked about frames in PM. With the light bloom on and that amount of weather activity I would get between 24 and 38 with spikes to 50 and some quick dips to to 18 depending on the view angle and the amount of overcast involved in the shot but pretty much held right around 24. Without the light bloom that would increase to between 38-50 with spikes in the 70

thanks for the comments

It was a very fun flight and had some great views with all the weather changes flying through and around the mountains to get to the destination, including snow and ice. It also had a few less than relaxing problems to deal with going over the mountains in wind changes and visibility. All in all, with the way that aircraft handles, it made the entire experience a lot of fun because as Brett said, you are getting very highly realistic flight dynamics with that model.

As for screenshot tricks, one of them is to use a much higher res monitor or scale than the screenshot itself. In my case my monitor runs a native 1920x1200 so I don't have to boost it however some people fly at 1280x1024 but their CRT or TFT may be able to do, say 1600x1200. Higher resolutions on slower video cards with low memory can make the sim run slow and because of that flying at higher resolution may not be optimal but for screenshots you can raise the resolution and the resulting image will contain quite a bit more information, meaning when it is reduced there is significantly less loss, a much more detailed shot and compression does not take anywhere near as much of a toll on the quality.

That is how images can start to take on the characteristics of a photo. Reducing an images loaded with data will result in a smaller image with defined detail.

On a performance note, the better video cards should be run on higher resolution because if you don
