Not bad, I get the same performance out of my go7600 thought :P

Tweak your CFG and graphics card settings to get some nice frame rates.

Also put on the thunderstorms weather theme and see how you do with all of those clouds

Hey Dr. Tomcat. Welcome to the V! (Or 'The Madhouse' - some of us really prove it to be just that ;D)

But I don't think you should brag over your graphics or performance. They're really not that good. There are people on this forum with lesser systems that produce images that make your screenshot look like something my two year old son put together.

So you think you have everything maxed in FSX? Do you just set the slider to max or do you also manually edit settings in your config file? And you're getting 20 FPS in clear weather over water ... I don't think it is that impressive if you ask me. If you would fly over Manhattan in a massive thunderstorm, with 100% traffic, 3D clouds and God knows what else you can come up with, and still have a CONSTANT 20 FPS ... then we would be mildly impressed.

But as soon as you're over the Amazon River and you get a little trees in sight you drop 5 frames? With default scenery and a default plane? Please ... stop bragging about quality and performance. Follow Wingo's advice. I can get this kind of performance (and quite possibly even better) out of my 7800 GS on AGPx8.

Seriously, if you like to see what an 8800 can do check out this thread. But having a nice card doesn't mean a thing. You need all components to work together, ask anyone. See if you gain some performance and image quality by reading this.

Good luck!

Harold by the way is trying to challenge you to produce some better screens

Pfft, I get 10FPS, with car traffic on high, everything else max, flying over Seattle. Nvidia 6800 (I haven't touched a thing on it, apart from setting AA to 8x). You aren't using your card to its full potential here.

Not a bad shot.

Why do you have your FPS set to "UNLIMITED"? waste of resources. set it to 25 ;)

I set mine to unlimited and I get better frames with that than setting it to 20.

Interesting, first time Ive heard that one. Different systems behave differently, as an unlimited setting will hurt mine, (slightly). I get the best performance when Im locked at 22-25 fps.

FSX is built different than FS9. Setting an unlimited frame rate in FSX can sometime get you better results than locking it to 25.
But locking it to a lower rate in FS9, will get you better results.

But remember, high FPS is not something you're typically after in a simulator. It is not a shooter ;)
