Caribbean Hop Leg IX
Yes It's leg 9 guys. Why #9, you ask? 'Cause about one year ago I started this tour and suddenly stopped because I wasn't enjoying simming anymore. Now that I am, I've started again.
Hey, Clipper, Krigl and Harold Kip; this one's dedicated to you guys...
My last stop was San Juan, Puerto Rico. That evening I flew from Luis Munoz Marin Intl to Las Americas Dr J F Pena Gome, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
At the gate, ready for push-back:

Taxiing to Runway 8:

Rotation:

Climbing to cruise level over central Puerto Rico, heading west:

Night falls, the beautiful lights of western Puerto Rico glow:
.jpg)
Crossing the Western Coast, the last remnants of the sun's lights reflecting up from the calm Caribbean waters below:
.jpg)
Some huge cloud heads form as we approach the island of Hispaniola:
.jpg)
ATC vectors me into the approach; I begin my descent and turn into Santo Domingo:
.jpg)
Night falls as quickly as a stone; it's almost over; gear down, I report the runway in sight to my 11 o'clock:
.jpg)
Good thing I've been practising my IFR approaches in this bird, some low mist rolls in; following two birds on final (I hope they'll be the one's to go around
)
.jpg)
Got my wish; flare over R17; Iberia 747 holding short as I bring my bird to a touchdown:
.jpg)
Tomorrow, we'll be crossing the border into the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, but still a beautiful Caribbean country.
Comments please. 8-)
