Yankee Lady in Trouble

Postby Groundbound1 » Wed Jun 20, 2007 4:53 pm

A few shots of Gary Herbert's "Lazy Lucy", with a repaint by John Terrell.

(I hope no-one finds these offensive. I'm only posting them to get feedback on a new effect I'm working on.)

I don't find this offensive at all.

Nice effect.

That's some fine-looking flames there. Best I've ever seen. :)

FS9, and thank you all. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't fishing for compliments by posting these, I was just wondering if it would be worth my time to finish and upload the effect. ( guess I've got my answer!) These shots are of the beta, (very hard on frame rates)but I'll keep at it!

Like I said, I still have some tweeking to do before I upload it, but would anyone like to try out what I've got so far?

(A word of caution, due to the large number of rapidly emitted sprites, you might lose 10-15 FPS OR MORE depending on the viewpoint. It looks better from a slight distance, and looks AWESOME in a "fly-by"!)

I should be uploading the effects to SimV sometime next week! They are only going to be for the default aircraft at first, but others will surely follow!

So you're are doing this effect yourself ? Congratulations, it really looks nice :)
By the way, I have a question for you, maybe you did some tests and can answer me: I notice that for the fire, everybody always use a "round" texture, like a fireball, let's say.
How about replacing that round texture with another one that would have the shape of flames leaching the wing, I mean, flames that are extended backward because of the wind, you see what I mean ? How would it look like ?
Ps: sorry if the question sounds dumb  ;D but I have never done an effect myself, so I do not know anything about the eventual constraints... ;)
