I love it! It's a different, very well thought out shot, and right on target with the theme. Well Done!

(the pilot won't be too happy sittin' on a squishy seat though! ;D)

Hey, Jayhawk, was that last year by chance? It did pour at Ellington (on Saturday) but it cleared up quite nicely by the time the Thunderbirds got in the air. Yeah, it wasn't the Blue Angels, but they'll be in Fort Worth, TX in October 8-)
Edited: Come to think about it, it rained big time at Ellington the year before last too. Didn't go to that show though.
I went to the last two years. The year before it wasn't raining when I went...but last year it was horrifying. Once the show started it was a great show though! I can't complain about the rain though, without it I wouldn't be on airliners.net!

My favorite moment at the ellington airshow was when the C-17 that was parked facing the parking lot started up, threw in full reverse, and backed out of it's spot under its own power. I'm pretty sure that was 2 years back.

Great Idea, I really laughed when I saw it. :D
Why do they all call their F-18s to be every-weather-aircraft ?! ;D

yes, but weather can limit displays for safety reasons.
Unfortunately.

its a nice atmosphere, but airshows are about seeing the planes. a closer-up would have been nice

I disaggree, what I like about this shot is the way the aircraft looks so small and alone, a very solitary feel to it.
It's almost as if the photographer is saying, "I travelled all this way and this is all I saw!"

EXCELLENT SHOT...!
The plane, shown far away, on it's own, illustrates the total desolation of the place at the time...
Well thought out, and composed......

...!
F..... 8-)...!
