I/we are eagerly awaiting for Brett to modify his lovely FSX Cessna 177RG Cardinal to make it suitable for we FS 2004 flyers!... ::)...!

I've searched everywhere for a good, free-ware, FS 2004 model, without success. (Only pay-ware ones are available, [Flight 1]...!).

Paul...(Cessna enthusiast).... 8-)...!

Do you wake with a start, bathed in cold sweat, in the middle of the night?

I have.. just like I've woken up in the middle of the night with a solution to a modeling problem and HAVE to implement it before I forget  ::)

Modeling has a weird way of creeping into your psyche  :-?

Nice shots, the plane so odd looking when the gears up, Cessna's are mostly fixed gear ;D (unless its a short runway with tall trees at the end :P)

Even then they're fixed gear... in that the gear won't go back down again 'cos it isn't there. ;D

P.S. What happened in #4? :-? :o ;D

Its amazing just how slippery an aeroplane becomes when its wheels are raised out of the air stream..!

As an example:
Compare the speed of a Cessna 182S fixed undercarriage, with it's Sister, the 182RG with it's retractable undercarriage. The difference is remarkable.. :o...!

The danger:
Never forget to lower them before landing!

Paul... 8-)...!

Note the clever/complicated way the wheels retract into the fuselage!...(The same as the Cessna 337 push-pull props version)....;)...!

And the 177RG has no wing struts, and a more "sloped" windscreen. The real plane that this model is based on, can zoom along at 6000msl, 75% power (24" MP, 2400RPM), at 137knots TRUE airspeed burning just under 11 gallons per hour carrying an honest 1,000 pounds of people, fuel and baggage.

Clever, is subjective

The emergency pump got them down and locked.. but the AP guy told me I was one drop of hydraulic fluid away from having to land with the gear "semi extended".

:o

That would've been a bit hairy! :o

Deepest condolences... that can't be pleasant.

. . . screaming "Colocated vertices!  Colocated vertices!" ;)
