Taking some RAF bigwigs To a "conference" in Edinburgh from lossiemouth AB. Bet they'll be noisy on the way back. as long as they don't wanna fly!!

Turning over the moray firth to head due south

Flying through one of many thunderstorms on the way

The Highlands had a misty coating in places. Here near Pitlochry

Of course they had to be off loaded to the VIP lounge at Edinburgh. Parked next to BA and Scotair.

The Nimrod is the plane I remember from Many an RAF open day at Leuchars during my childhood, that and the Vulcan were my favourites. Graceful and very stylish

The REAL Nimrod fleet are falling apart, I watched a program on them. All thanks to the British government's lack of funding, the fleet are being cannibalised to keep each other in the air. They're now very dangerous and RAF crews are asking not to be posted to them.
In short, they're too old and should be replaced.

But back to the screenies... they're very good, and as Edinburgh is my local/default airport, it's a journey I make often.

World of AI packages work in both FS9 and FSX...I believe they are only available at Avsim and Flightsim.  Just search for World of AI...make sure you download the installer first though.

yup if you go to that website the clicky links take you to the relevant pages in avsim, download, then unzip.
Start the WOA installer, and browse to the unzipped package, then just click next until done. Simple. when you restart fs9 for fsx, it updates scenery files. I'd advise doing quite a few at once (i did 27)!!!

Everything from BA to estonian air. I've only got traffic etc set at 48% and you get plenty. Can screw with the frame rates at bigger ports though!!

I'm seriously considering taking the nimrod on a world tour!!!

BBC's Panorama. And a lot of it was misinformed/sensationalised journo bulls***. The main reason people don't like the 'Rod fleet is some politician decided it was best kept in the far north of Scotland, a days journey from London and miles from where most people (want to) live and their families, and once you're on the fleet you tend to stay there for at least 6 years! If they'd taken the decision to move it to Waddo, then people would have been just a little happier. They do have servicability problems, but they are more down to the fact the engineering staff are fed up with the way they're treated by the modern RAF (due to contractorisation of housing, spending more and more time away from home etc) than broken jets. Put money in, and even a 40 year old jet can do a successful job.

In short, they're too old and should be replaced.

That is true then. Sadly someone made a pigs ear of buying its replacement.

Tell all that to the families of the one that disintegrated in the air over Iraq recently, killing all on board. Tell that to the flight crew who had to insert an ELECTRIC KETTLE into a hole which blew open during a routine flight ( fortunately low level ) over the North Sea a year ago.
So Lossiemouth is in the north of Scotland... boo hoo.  You don't join the armed forces in the knowledge that you'll be working from your childhood home, if you can't handle being 1 hours flight-time from anywhere in the UK , then you SHOULDN'T be in the RAF.

Simple as that.

Sorry mate, but your post is complete rubbish. And if it's NOT rubbish, I fear for the RAF and the weak-minded people signing up to join them.

I take it you mean Afghanistan. If you're going to try and slate me, get your facts right. And yes, I do have friend and colleagues who had close friends on XV230.

Mmm, and yeah, people think its great that they get to go to Lossie and Leuchars too. The difference is the RAF is now a lot smaller. Places like Kinloss used to be teeming with service personnel and their families. Nowadays, half the personnel are civvy contractors. Have you been to the mess at Kinloss? A huge mess, but on most nights, a quiet as a mouse. The only local place to go out, the locals love you. It's the only place I've ever been threatened with physical violence for being English.

You can jump on a flight from Inverness to London - but are you going to be able to book it enough in advance to not pay full whack. Probably not. Train. Inverness to London? A shade over
