Tried my hands on the helo mission in Tokyo. What started out like a normal day (landing on the roof was sheer terror 'though) turned into a movie-like aircraft chase.

So that's why there's a "caspian sea monster" folder...

Interesting... Is that the Russian craft that doesn't really fly or float on water when travelling? It uses some principle of propagation that has succesfully eluded me right now... :-?

Yeah, just like a shooter and stuff.

If FSX now had a damage system, you could open endless possibilities! (Tank buster/intercept/recon missions)

ground affect  ;) maybe effect  :-?

It's an ekranoplane, never went beyond military use in Russia, and yes, uses the ground effect to travel faster than any boat skimming on the sea water.

It's a plane project that has been abandoned, AFAIK.

The ekranoplan concept was not abandoned, sorry bub.  Still some out there today, just not very common.  It travels within ground effect, a cushion of air formed by downdraft of an aircraft's wing when it is near the ground

I believe the term for an ekronaplan type aircraft is a WGE, Wing in Ground Effect or similar.

I meant that the furthering of the project Ekranoplan had been abandoned. The few units still able to "fly" do so, but are in a situation not unlike the Concorde. Once decommissioned an ekranoplan, another doesn't take its place.

Or at least so I read. I don't take responsibility for what others wrote. ;)

it is actualy WIG. and you have some prototypes that would also have been able to do a normal flight.
