The default terrain mesh in FS9 looks pathetic even with max settings when compared to the default terrain mesh of FSX with max terrain settings.
Here are some examples:
Please note the system that I'm using, what settings I have applied for each example and what frames I get.

FSX Interlaken - By FlymoI'm pretty sure there's more examples out there that compares FSX and FS9.
Of course, the frames are better in these shots because all of the shots were taken in a mountainous area which is far from civilization. So I clearly understand that the frames will drop big time when flying in places like New York city or London. Me, I like flying in rural areas because it feels so calm and the view of the terrain [regardless of which version of FS you're flying in] can easy beat the local cities hands down. With terrain, you rarely see any two mountains that look the same while the autogen is nothing more than repetative boxes.
In terms of terrain mesh, FSX beats FS9 hands down in my opinion.
In terms of textures for the terrain, both sims seem to be tied in my opinion.
In terms which version is the most wierd, FS9 wins. Tell me, how do the frame rates go up after applying higher settings?
In terms of dynamics, FSX and FS9 are tied as there appears to be little or no change except that the Extra 300 can now do flat spins.
