The FS9 scenery looks much better. There are more buildings.  :)

Hmm, not sure what it is you're trying to illustrate here. The only thing I'm seeing is that (A) FS9 with full sliders looks better than FSX with very low settings (huge shocker there), and (B) your computer is apparently not at all well-equipped to run FSX...

The default terrain mesh in FS9 looks pathetic even with max settings when compared to the default terrain mesh of FSX with max terrain settings.

Here are some examples:

Please note the system that I'm using, what settings I have applied for each example and what frames I get.

FSX Interlaken - Part 1

FSX Interlaken - Part 2

FS9 Interlaken

Here's another example posted by Sgt Flymo.

FSX Interlaken - By Flymo

I'm pretty sure there's more examples out there that compares FSX and FS9.

Of course, the frames are better in these shots because all of the shots were taken in a mountainous area which is far from civilization. So I clearly understand that the frames will drop big time when flying in places like New York city or London. Me, I like flying in rural areas because it feels so calm and the view of the terrain [regardless of which version of FS you're flying in] can easy beat the local cities hands down. With terrain, you rarely see any two mountains that look the same while the autogen is nothing more than repetative boxes.

In terms of terrain mesh, FSX beats FS9 hands down in my opinion.
In terms of textures for the terrain, both sims seem to be tied in my opinion.
In terms which version is the most wierd, FS9 wins. Tell me, how do the frame rates go up after applying higher settings?
In terms of dynamics, FSX and FS9 are tied as there appears to be little or no change except that the Extra 300 can now do flat spins.

I must agree, a picture is worth 1000 words.

I would post the full size 1920x1200 FSX image but I would get my knuckles wacked, people on dialup would be screaming and some of you guys would be scrolling forever

To the thread starter: I have every slider just A LITTLE bit below max. We're talking every slider set to high but not ultra high. I have full AI (excluding cars), with MyTrafficX installed. THOUSANDS of aircraft roam the skies. I get 9fps. All I can say is to get better hardware. Oh and Nick N I like the new sig.  ;)

Woah, lots of autogen there Nick.  :o Which reminds me, I have made the "tree/building per cell" mod to my FSX.cfg. Will removing it do any harm at all?

You haven't set in FSX scenery complex &  autogen In fact all the scenery clompexity as in FSX
That isn't out of the questioning of course FSX it has much much better real grafic than fs9

im sorry but you can not compare FS9 and FSX like that, its possibly the worst comparison.
to do it properly you need the sliders in the same place on both sims then you can do a truely equal comparison.
in both sims i have the sliders basicly maxed and i will do a little comparison once i have FS9 installed again.

but trust me, if you have semi decent hardware (like me :D) FSX is a gem and FS9 is just a rock
