ATC wasn't exactly the smartest, but nor was I the most patient.

I think if I were flying the Piper I would be needing to change my underwear when I got landed  :o

Actually IRL the cessna and the piper would have wait and land after the liner, but FS ATC, being FS ATC, doesn't care (and is so nice to be remembered that such great example of shabby coding was unchanged from FS9 to FS10, makes my decision to wait for FS11 all the easier to be kept).

If you want to land unchallenged and avoid the need to do a no-ski slalom around GA planes, go in the world time menu (don't remember it's position in the menu of FS10) and put the clock one simple minute either forward or backward (your choice), magically every plane in front of you will disappear and you'll be able to land undisturbed.

Yeah it looks like someone is gonna loose their pilots license, and you didn't get a traffic alert for this maneuver? of course I am no stranger to close calls myself

Well what can one say!!! ATC is quite realistic in that in the USA they often mix GA with jet transports which has unfortunately led to many accidents  :'(
On top of that you blatently ignored ATC instructions!!!
Wouldn't it be nice if in a future sim they withdrew your licence!! ie prevented you from playing the game for say 60days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 :o  A pox on thee for the suggestion of such an idea!  But I did ignore ATC, sort of.  I'm not good enough to figure out how to go into a holding pattern or to where it is.  Is it the white oval that appears when you choose the procedure for the runway?

You should look at the approach charts for the airports. They show you the holding facilities. It is quite simple to fly them. Consisting of 1 minute legs and rate one turns adjusting for winds aloft.

It would be a good thing for you to learn a holding pattern if you have any intention of begin to fly on-line (there such knowledge is required) but to get other planes out of your way while off-line, my previous post was not a joke. It suffices you move the clock one minute either forward or backward and FS will recalculate and reset all the flying AI leaving you alone to land undisturbed.
