Sad developpements at the Faroer Islands

While today should have been a festival day, as Swedish and Danish troops practiced search and rescue-missions on the foggy Faroer Islands in the North Sea, things turned sour when just before dark a real distress-call was received by the local coastguard... One of the swedish birds immediately rushed to the scene where a small fishingboat was last reported...

The worsening weather and falling dusk didn't help to find the victims quickly...

Image

Though our searchlight seems powerfull, it's pretty hard to find a human body in these pitch dark waters...

Image

We circled the area for 45 minutes, until the weather and gasshortaged forced us back to base...

Image

It's always a sad feeling to abandon the search, knowing people are still out there... not much hope left though, the tempartures are freezing...

Image

Tomorrow new crews will take to the sky, hoping to spot the lost souls...

Cheers,

Omag
