Compliments to ACES for a good effort. This is more like it I reckon

If I'm not mistaken the runway is sloping (which is a surprise  ???) because when I started on runway 24 in another aircraft it began to roll backwards!

So if you approach from the 'open' end you are landing downhill and from the other direction you have to do a sweep close the the mountains, as shown, to get a decent approach.

If you take off uphill, the plane takes ages to accelerate and if you go the other way, you're heading straight towards the mountain.

Lovely!

Isn't Lukla facing the wrong way? It's supposed to end in a cliff... ::)

Actually, I think I take it all (well most) back.

Just Googled some pics and it's nothing like the FSX scenery, pretty though it is

Funny I have just posted in the FSX forum that I thought VNLK (Lukla) has been modelled poorly lol.

It's a shame is this is a favourite for many fliers being that its a little challenging due to the height and shortness of it.

I too have the addon scenery for Lukla in FS9 but belive the default FS9 Lukla to be more accurate than FSX one in terms of the position of the runway and the approach to it.

Now it gets out that FS9 is at times more accurate than the sim that should replace it? ::)

How nice... that I have not bought it. :P

it's Bush's fault!!! >:(

I can already tell this thread is going down hill.
Great shots, and I can't wait to get FSX.

As much is undeniable that a lot of things lately ARE his fault, I really find hard to append this to the LONG list you talk about. ;D

More like it's the FSX programmers' fault, by my reckoning. First the Greek coasts, now this. ::)

What else, I can't help but wonder.

For example, are the glitches in south America (don't remember exactly where) that produced a 60.000 feet tall spire with a chasm of more than 100.000 negative feet nearby still there? ???

If Lukla doesn't look like this in FSX then................ !!!
Yes it's true FS9 has 60,000ft spikes here and there. But important places are modelled quite well (not Venezia mind you!!!) They really messed up London in FSX!!!!   I rather think M(qualcosa)s released it thinking "ah, well", "the addon experts will sort it out for us for free"
PS It does slope as you can see. I've seen a number of films of a/c landing there and it's quite tricky to land uphill
