Parts one to five  :D

Today I thought I'd take the old YS-11 up to see what Fuji-san looked like with VOZ and Real Environment Pro. Decided to stay up all day, take a few snaps and then serve up these tired old FS9 shots in the freeware forum among the sparkling new FSXers like swine before pearls....

36 views of... :o

This is the strangest form of ukiyo-e I ever saw, though very nice. Shame they have to follow the minuscule size and strong compression requested by forum rules. ;D

PS
To stay true to form, you should have called this thread 36 views of Fuji-san. ;)

Are you sure you didn't take those shots with "fuji" film? LOL
O reckon it will take 12 to 24 months for FSX to come up to that standard.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there, o friend of the VC-10 - it will take exactly as long as it takes for VOZ for FSX to come out ;D I would say it could be within 3 months, or even earlier.

VOZ for FSX.... slobber.....drool....

Of course, it will run like a pig with four broken legs for most of us, but it will look amazing when paused.

Happy Saturday Night all

Have you tried installing VOZ on FSX ?
I wonder if it's possible... basicaly, it's just a scenery (containing both textures and landclasses) covering the whole Australia... so it could maybe work... I would be very curious to see the restults...

What has VOZ and Australia to do with the Fuji in Japan? ???

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems to me that VOZ replaces the default ground textures of FS9, so that Australia looks better.

The drawback of this technique is that depending on the area you want to fly in Australia, you must first change the texture set to choose the one that correspond to that precise area, because the whole australia (world ?) will have those ground textures.

I think they did that because it would have been too difficult (or too long) to create a full scenery that would cover the whole continent, with it's own textures precisely attached to each particular area (like what is normally done for little sceneries like piece of airports, or cities or villages etc...)

Correct me if I am wrong.

You're absolutely right, Daube, it changes the whole world not just Australia. There's a 'switcher' programme which swaps the 4 'regions' of Australia, i.e. temperate, dry, desert and tropical, depending on where you want to fly. You can also 'unvoz' with it, of course, back to whatever textures you have. There are now most seasons available, if not all, within each region. The temperate and tropical look really good, the other too are a matter of taste - the desert is REALLY red.

It isn't a problem that it changes the rest of the world - in fact it's a bonus  :) However, the colours look strange in some places, but tropical is good for much of Asia, and other tropical places, and temperate looks fine in temperate regions too. I used it for these Japan shots.

This I knew already. :) It was a way to overcome the limitation of old FS9. limitations that I'm so sure that FSX instead... has himself as well. ::)

Fact is and remains that flying outside Australia one should uninstall VOZ's custom texture or accept... oddnesses in ground rendition.

From that my question as before: What has VOZ and Australia to do with the Fuji in Japan? ???

If the flight was a long haul started in Australian territory, one could understand, but I highly doubt that the YS-11 has the autonomy to make it to the Fuji, it it takes off from Kangaroo Continent. ;D ;)

PS
Fact remains that the screenshots are nice. :)

I saw some screenshots of VOZ in FSX on the Vista Australis site - it does kind of work, but there are apparently problems with it. I expect the water might be problematic for a start, as well as other reflective surfaces... but maybe not. They will optimise it soon, I'm sure. VOZ 9.3 is on the way - hopefully that will still be for FS9 - if so it will probably be the last, I suspect.
