The fire is very cool in the first pic. You should use it in the comp ;)

Well, as I'm sure you know, you can't use any of these shots now that you've posted them here. At least I don't think you can.
But you'll do fine with shots of this caliber.

Might I ask where I can find that fine-looking flying boat in the second pic?

you have something with the first pic, you may try to take advantage of this fire, and make a really dramatic shot.
get closer, use the smoke to give it a perspective, use more clouds, more light, or more colour... you may also ask for somebody's help, I mean a ME109 somewhere in the pic, can make it really dramatic...
the second one is also really nice, but I think it will be more difficult to make a really different shot with that, except from the type of A/C, same for the mosquito...
good luck, you are well on the way to produce a beautifull shot...

If you take shot #1 from above and behind, the smoke will cloud part of the screenshot. It'll look very realistic, and it's the perspective of an attacking airplane. Maybe put a sunset off to one side, turn off sun glare but keep the lens flare on... I think you did this already. (FS skyworld will give you some awesome colors, and it's freeware). This will give you nice reflections off the aircraft, and the closer distance will show off the livery... I can't wait to see your shots in competition ;D

Great shots! I really think that frnchy444 has a point. The first one is GREAT!!!! How though, may I ask, did the engine catch on fire?
