I really need to learn how to "fly" with orbiter!

Great shot! :)

Actually, Orbiter can get framerate heavy - the big drain on FS9 is scenery. Airplanes are flying over the Earth, while spaceships orbit far overhead. This means by and large; Orbiter doesn't need to render terrain - planets are simple spheres. This gives lots of room for number crunching - Orbiter looks great, but it's forte is realistic orbital physics. Take a complex ship however with a bunch of stations, modules and level 10 planet tiles; and Orbiter can really slow down. :)

Long long ago before the new release of Orbiter ever came out there was talk in the Orbiter forums on how people could play MP with each other. When many agreed on its benefits, others talked about its drawbacks.

One major drawback of implementing MP into Orbiter:

If one player wishes to initiate time warp then all the other players have to "unanomously" agree on when, and how long to initiate time warp. Otherwise, one might enjoy time warp while the other either crashes into a planet or drifts into space.

But there was also talk in their forums about implementing a new kind of warp called jump gates or stargates. A player would align him or herself onto some kind of stargate and when its initiated the sim closes the current session and starts a new one while the player is only seeing a brief video or shot of a ship going through hyperspace. Some people found the idea far fetched, but the rest saw great advantanges of it.

"See you on the other side." -Stargate-
