Nice screenies. I posted a similar topic that had my favorite P-38 on it titled "Holy Cow". The thread has the link.
Referring to the last shot, I recommend using the default "building storms" weather theme. The haze in the horizon hides the ugly shimmering in the background.

There is aweather theme that comes with VOZ called Koorby Clouds, and it combines cirrus and stratus clouds with a bit of haze which gives it quite a realistic look, which is what I used in my contest entry.
