Do you ever get that feeling
Posted: Tue Mar 07, 2006 10:31 amHere I was sitting ready to taxi and looking at the thunderstorm, getting that deep feeling you knew something was not right.
Anyway had a job to do and heck once I get above those clouds it will be a nice early evening sky.
I had only been in the air for no more than 45 seconds, then crack,my whole aircraft lit up like a christmas tree, that lightning bolt came very close. The whole aircraft shuddered, a moment lapse in power and all panel lights flickered. Even manage to knock the altimeter off.
All seems back to normal now, jeez that was a butt clinching, anyway get climbing to get out of this storm.
Start to level off now, I knew it would be a nice evening up here, in fact I think I am going to enjoy this flight now.
I'm afraid that was the last shot, 5 minutes after that all power failed, then all 3 engines. I awoke on some small island but there is good news, I made a new friend.
