Taking the Dornier for a ride..

Postby Indigojones » Thu Mar 02, 2006 7:57 pm

At some point on the descent into Reno (I recommend it!) stable at FL190. Please excuse the FSPassengers stuff in the corner.

It's the demo. I'm not quite ready to pay 31 Euros for it. Although it would be nice to get away from San Francisco  ;)

That's kind. People got scared by excessive g-forces on landing, which I think was caused by the nose jumping up in the air, which always seems to happen with this model, though I guess it could be to do with the autospoiler. Also it chewed me out cos I only left enough fuel for 9 minutes of flying! But I bet the company execs liked my shrewd fuel estimation  ;)

Falcon500, I'ld agree with you if someone could just explain all those extra levers to me - what's up with prop speed? I understand mixture. I just love the Dornier's low landing speed - makes things so much easier for a klutz like me. ;)

prop speed regulates; the prop speed ::) by changing the angle of attack of the prop blades, as you lower the prop speed the prop gets a better "bite" in the air.

For the most efficent flying is going up to about 21000 feet (i think for the Dornier) and lowering the prop speed (the plane will go slower, but range increases dramatically. You also need to fix the mixture ;) and lower the throttle.
