Haven't flown for my VA in several weeks...Mainly due to not enough time for a long haul.  Plus this was my 100th flight with the Flying Tigers.  Probably should have flown Air France since that is the main division I signed with but they dont operate 777s from Tel Aviv so

One of the first times I took more wing shots then spot shots...

Takeoff roll.  Gota love the power of the GE-90s.  

Turning for Cyprus.  Going to be a pretty long flight.  Current time is around 11:30.  ETA 16:25.

Cruising 36,000 feet somewhere over southern Europe.

Over Boston and begining a slow decent to FL220.  We are expecting an extra early arrival.

Decent into Newark.



Cleared to land.  Fairly smooth so far, only a little bit of turbulence.  

Flaps full, spoilers deployed, and full reverse thrust mark the end of flight 85.

Parked and ready to unload.  Arrived at 15:23, about an hour early...but after 11.1 hours I dont think an extra would be that noticeable

Maps getting pretty crowded now.  100 flights, 520 hours, plenty of trans-atlantics and a few trans-pacifics.  Thing is that all 100 flights start where the last one left off.  Started with a flight from CDG-PRG on June 18, 2004.  


Anyways...Thanks for lookin...time to get some sleep

I have to ask, how do you do it.  My 2 hour flight in the 1900 was almost unbearable, but you are flying for 10 hours or more.  How do you do it.

Well I did my capitals tour with the help of iTunes in the background, and the inflight internet browser (found on SimV)

I tend to use the in flight entertainment center  AKA the bed, tv, ps2, that Continental 777-200 model still waiting to be finished

I usualy start flights of 10 hours or more right before bed.  Level off, cruise for a hundred miles or so, set the auto pilot, and then crash out for the night.  Cruising around for 10 hours strait is kind of boring on the long hauls.  Its still done in real time.  And there was one flight I did during the day where I could check in every 1/2 hour or so, but its a rare time.  Under 8 hours I used to start before work so I would be home to land them.  If its a flight under 2 hours I stay with it the entire time and keep with the full IFR

The trick is to not switch on the new frequency, when the default ATC hands you off. You'll be free to fly the archived plan undisturbed. Just remember to contact again the ATC at about 300nm away from landing. Way better than cancelling and then refiling (though it works too).

Depends on what one you go for.  I found the Flying Tigers to be my choice simply because it affiliates many airlines and it is not a requirment to fly online.  They trust your PIREPs are correct and that you accualy flew the route.  If you were to choose the FTG then you will want to read some rules and such.  There are many affiliates in which you can fly any route that airline flys.  But there are others like British Airways where you have to fly directly to or from a gateway city of that airline such as Heathrow or Gatwick.  Since I joined over a year ago many new airlines and codeshares have opened up.  You pretty much have access to the whole world

Heres the link to the Air France/KLM division that I origionaly signed on with.  Its not that hard to get started..but i will warn you there is a small entrance exam.  I dont know if its changed any since I joined but I remember it to be pretty easy

It will explain a bit more detail.  You have to read to even find the link to the exam and official start of signing up.  There are lots of other VAs out there as well.  Depends on your prefferences.  Some are very strict others are like this and are easy going and dont have a ton of restrictions

Theres only one thing to think of.  I think its 2-3 months of no activity and your account gets deleted  So make sure to spare time for an hour hop somewhere once in awhile
