"She'll go faster..."

Postby Lazerbeak » Wed Jan 25, 2006 9:21 pm

I finally got the Hughes H1-B Racer, which (in my opinion) is one of the most beautiful planes around. After downloading this excellent package (complete with a great VC), I found out that it's also quite a blast to fly.

This thing's pretty freakin' fast for such an old-timer.

Landing this beast is no easy task though.

Looks powerful even sitting still.

I got that a while ago... definitely a handful, but she sure does go. And an absolutely gorgeous design: I was utterly blown away by the amazing, accurate-to-the-last-detail replica displayed at Airventure '03. Saw it taxi, but not in flight.
And nobody will now... it crashed on the way home from Oshkosh that year; pilot/owner/builder was killed and the aircraft destroyed.

That was a real shame as it was due to be the real star of "The Aviator". It's loss, and the loss of Jim Wright was a sad day for the world of aviation...
