Call of Duty 2 - Getting Off The Beach...
"As we approached the beaches I felt a sense of sickness, both nerves and from the motion of the boat which swayed with every pulsing wave and explosion. Whilst several of my comrades exchanged banter around me I said nothing. My mouth was dry as a bone as I thought about home and the good times. But that was before this war began and all hell broke loose. Finally we began to draw close to the beach as Sarge gave us a last brief before the platform lowered on our vessel and opened the door to the nightmare world that lay before us."

"The platform lowered and immediatly bullets were zinging around us like angry bees, except these angry bees were lethal. If chaos was a place than this truly would have been it, with screams of my comrades mingled with the sound of explosions and gunshots it was a nightmare, except this nightmare was all too real."

"Finally I managed to scramble to the dunes where hastily thrown ropes led the way up to the top and the German positions. Despite falling bodies above me I maintained my grip and made it to the top. When I reached the top of the dune I risked a short look back and thought "That truly was hell."
