Mig 15!

Postby cspyro21 » Sat Nov 05, 2005 9:08 am

Hey all,
I haven't posted many pics recently, so I decided to showcase the favulous MiG 15. (Thanks Krigl for giving me the link!

Image
Waiting for TO. Apparently, the nose-intake design came from the WWII Focke-Wulf TA-183:

(Resemblance!!! Has somebody been spying on the Germans?)

Once in the air, this little MiG is really fun to fly. Very frisky, but very fun.

Breaking above the clouds, at last. Now I can crusie along...

Image
Showing you the underside of the MiG 15. Not a lot here, just a screenshot that I like a lot for some reason  ;D

Image
Look a cloud!! This has a VC, but I didn't install them because I didn't think I'd be keeping it.

Image
On final. Please excuse the quality (should I say lack of it) it this picture, but I had to allow for kb limits on the site.

Landed...only to be forced up again. I hit the ground a wee bit hard, bounced up again, and the process continued twice. While I was braking on the runway, I hit a 737, which crumpled the nose and ripped the wing off of the MiG.....  :-[ ;DAnyway, MiG found here: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military53.htm

Thanks for looking!
Cheers  ;)

some very nice shots!!! too bad about the quality on some, but if you use a little imagination you can picture how beautiful it must've looked when you actually made them!!!  ;D  ;)

That mig is indeed very hard to land.. got it myself but whenever i land i seem to go nose first a bit, then sort of bounce, flip over and crash on my back!!!  ::)

The Mig15 did indeed take after that German plane (can't remember what that one is...a little help here Bjorn?)

It was the one shown in the photo. That "Strahljager" never made it to production...
Nice pics.

Most american and russian fighters built shortly after World War Two (F86, Mig15, F84, Mig17) were based on german desigh and technologies (beard intake, swept wing, engine design,...)  Just compare the F86 and the Mig15, they look very much alike :)

Nice pics by the way :)

Thanks all!

And KB, wasnt it the F-86 Sabre and the MiG 19 that were more similar to each other, or was it the MiG 15 and F-86?

???

Cheers ;)

Ah, I forgot the Mig 19 in my list :)

I used the Mig 15 for my example  because it was developed at about the same time as the F86 Sabre (1948 )  But you're right, the Mig 19 (1953) has a lower tailplane and resembles the F86 even more :)
