Definitely not one for you Top Guns

End of a flight I've done quite a few times in  real life - Rochester (UK) to Le Touquet. What we used to call (they probably still do) the Lunch Run.

It was good fun because you could claim duty back on all the fuel in your tanks (and you only used less than half of it) and you could pick up duty free booze and ciggies (used to smoke in those days) AND you could treat yourself and your wife/girlfriend (or whatever  ;) ) to a good lunch in Le Touqet.

I've flown a Tobago but never done the trip in one.

Plane by Premier Aircraft and the beautiful new version of Le Touquet (find it under Paris-Plage) by Christian Dupriez. I see from my Logbook that the last time I was there was July 1984. Seems much more recent... The scenery seems so familiar it's uncanny. Happy days.

Sorry to be reminiscing again.

I love the first shot !

Recently I have been enjoying the short filghts with such little airplanes. Very cool and relaxing indeed. Those slow planes give another dimension to the scenery, making it look.... I don't know...bigger ? Flying those quick jets was making any moutain or valley ridiculous, but in those little planes it's totally different.

You are so right!

I've just DLd all of the scenery for the Nord Pas de Calais by Christian Dupriez and I'm really looking forward to flying in it over the next few weeks. His sceneries are so beautifully done and full of detail. He's also covered Picardie, Champagne and Normandie so plenty to keep a francophile happy

I like props.  Warbirds mostly, but I find them relaxing too.  I think its the sound that relaxes me, the two purring allisons on my p38 are just soothing.  Man, I really have an aviation obsession, don't I ;D

Yup, so if you get hold of Charles Watson's Rochester (file version is RCHCW40M) and this scenery you'll get a real feel for the flght. We had what was called the Light Aircraft Corridor over the Channel but now I think you just fly with flight following by Manston Radar. If you get flightplanner to find your route IFR by low altitude airways that gives you the exact route for the LAC. But cancel your flghtplan once airborne (you couldn't do that in real life - you had to have a valid flightplan in place going from the UK and returning back from Le Touquet) and follow the track on your GPS. If you don't, M$ ATC sends you off on completely the wrong track to pick up the Le Touquet ILS which you don't want. The proper track is over the water and turn right along the French coast before calling up Le Touquet Approach.

I like the aircraft, although the VC panel is a little, odd....

It is a funny one Andrew. My new graphics card doesn't like any window in the panel that masks the whole screen - it just creates an invisible layer that prevents all switches working. So until I removed the yoke window I couldn't use the 2D panel. Did the whole flight from Rochester using the VC which is a bit more blurry than the pic when you're a bit closer to it. But good fun though.

I've just installed the superb Robin Regent from Francesim which I can't use properly yet because everything's in French and I have to work out all the switches. Also the TB9 Tampico but although I quite like it it has no pilot in spot view - bit eerie ???
