What If?

the cold war never was.....

Today russian Pilots and their new Mil 24A participated in a joint group of several European Nations. This session took place in Switserland.

The new "Hind" attack chopper is a definite odd one..aside from carrying aheavy punch it can aslo carry up to eight special forces troops. This feature is highly praised by several Nations generals. It is said that this design easily outdoes the weak American design called "Apache". As one General said: "We haven't had war in over two decades now and a chopper like this would make a great asset in any armed force. We can never be sure whether a war will erupt again so weaponry is nesscesary but a machine like this is very usefull in peace time too!!!"

And thus we start.

It was a very cold winter day. With some light snows. "No problem" said Igor Vassiliev who was the commander of this flight. "We Russians build to endure, not like those american Pansies" He said with a big smile like =====> ;D

The mission? Fly through the "Red" Valley and deliver a team of commando's on a mountain top at the end of the valley.

Image

Low hanging clouds caused for a severly decreased range of sight but Vassiliev assured us with: " We have most modern terrain following device. My eyes!". once again followed by a huge grin and complemented by Pjotr and Lev's laughter.

Image

"Look see, Treetops!" Somehow this reporter feels that Igor is fealing his fear. Although I knew that flying low was part of the mission, I did not expect it to be THIS low!

Out of the mist and climbing as we near our drop-off point.

Image

"Ok everyone out!" Igor shouted and we all got out. Igor came out too and walked towards me. " Not you!, You Idiot!"
Image

"Hey mister reporter guy? Are you strapped in?" I heard as Lev called me. Before I could answer I was hanging in my safety belt as we dove towards the ground...Don't you just love Russian humor?

Image

In the end. The Mil is a great chopper and I heard that they are already modifying it. The pilots....Well they are just all plane CRAZY!.

but hey we got back safely.

Might not be historically correct. And no pun intended about the Apache and stuff, all in good fun I hope ;D

Nice shot's, Soui. 8)
(If you're interested: I think the apache wasn't around yet when they made the Hind. The Cobra was the American gunship in those days. Not sure at all, but somebody will clear this up soon anyway  :P ;) )

Nice work Soui, I laughed out loud at the "most modern terrain following device bit". Cool shots, great concept...Russia... what more can I say?
