EQDC3: Leg 9- Port Gentil to Sao Tome

The next morning, I prepare for a quick flight to Sao Tome, about 140 nm west of the African mainland. The idea is to minimize the overwater time on the next leg... it's a biggie: almost 3600 miles, from Sao Tome to Macapa, Brazil.
For the first time on my RTW adventure, I'm asked to hold short for landing traffic. A Cherokee... LOL.

Off I go, with about 2 1/2 hrs' worth of fuel in the tank... EQDC3 leaps upward like a homesick angel. Fair weather ahead, and just about an hour or so to go... finally I feel like I'm having fun.

The VOR at Sao Tome wakes up the VHF receiver while I'm still climbing out. Excellent. No IFR plan this time, unless the weather deteriorates...

... and it doesn't-  unless you count turbulence. A little later in the day, and it'd be even worse...

After what seems like mere moments, the island of Sao Tome comes into view... I contact the tower for a VFR approach, and set up to enter a right downwind.

The approach and landing are better than usual, even with a bit of a crosswind. Must be becauseI'm not delirious with fatigue this time...

Well, that was easy! Time to rest up while we prepare EQDC3 for the long flight ahead...

You tried to taxi that thing lately? :P ;D

And yes, it's gotten pretty boring... losing my enthusiasm, and thus my creativity  is idling... plus, nothing unusual has happened in a while. If it weren't for the ability to speed up the sim to at least 16x, I'd find it unendurable.
But I've come to far to not finish; I'm hooked on racking up those miles!

ah yes, those god sent R and + buttons... gotta love em. Over water or boring land I usually speed up but over good terrain i go to spot plane and look around. This is when i get msot of my shots.

How far are you in your RWT - trip?

How far are you in your RWT - trip?

Started in Marta (?) on the coast of Ecuador, flying west. Crossed the Pacific Ocean, Indoneia, the Indian Ocean, and Africa so far.
The leg after Sao Tome is across the Atlantic to Macapa, Brazil, then one more leg across Brazil to my starting point in Ecuador. After the last post I'll post a pic of a world map showing my route.... then i might put the DC3 away for awhile... ;D
