EQDC3: Leg 8, part 1
Posted: Sat Oct 01, 2005 3:50 pmDeparting with the sunrise from Eldoret... I'll be flying all the way across Africa this time, to Port Gentil, Gabon, on the west coast.
Once I turn west, I see some clouds ahead... bummer. Was hoping to get a good look at Lake Victoria...
There's a decent break in the clouds as I skirt the northern shore of this vast lake...
Then the ground is blanketed in haze. But i'm still VFR, and EQDC3 is trimmed out nicely with not quite a full load of fuel.
Near the border between Uganda and the D.R. of the Congo, the Muller Mountains loom...making good time. I think i have a tailwind.
Some big mountains here...I've laid my course well, through a gap in the range.
Hmmm... did I forget a piece of SRTM mesh, or...?
Next: part 2 of Eldoret-Port Gentil
