EQDC3- Leg 4, part 3

Postby beaky » Sun Sep 18, 2005 12:46 pm

NEQDC3 takes to the air eagerly... I have a good feeling about this flight.

I file IFR, and turn to my assigned heading as I climb. It's a bit bumpy, but there are few clouds. The vis. is extraordinary.

I think about Briggs' friend as I race off to the west... what a character. He almost had me going last night with that cock-and-bull story about Gora Bora and phantom airports...but for all his teasing, Briggs really seemed to respect old Cutter.I did sort of believe the part about his flying with the Tigers- he's certainly old enough. I almost woke Briggs up before I left, just to ask if he believed in Keneru...

Smiling, I tune the one of the ADFs for the Gora Bora NDB, just as a sort of tribute to crazy old Cutter.

As the day matures, so do the clouds... but I'm well above them.

Next: The Phantom Island!!

CREDITS:

The clouds are not default; I added FS9nwcld by Gerrit Kranenbarg. Found it at AvSim.
I definitely prefer the look of these clouds, esp. larger formations. They remind me more of the real thing.
It should be noted that I'm running the clouds at fairly low realism settings... these are not so much screenies for posting as they are for just documenting the RTW flight.

AIRPORT ENVIRONMENT UPGRADE EX (EXPRESS EDITION) By Chris Arrington  ... a low-impact must-have, IMHO.

FS 2004 More Waves by Luiz Alvarenga
Alternative coastal breakers with more waves.
Balanced to look/move like the surf on shallow waters
No impact on frame rate.

-Unfortunately, I'm still not sure which main water-texture add-on I'm running right now... I will say that although sometimes it looks great, at high alts. over the ocean the geometric patterns are very obvious, and at low altitudes it looks like a bad acid trip... got to find a better (freeware) one.
