My RTW Trip part 1
Following Katahu's magnificent start to a RTW trip, this encouraged me to restart mine.
Flight 1
London Gatwick-Eleftharios Venizalos Intl, Greece (or however it's spelt
)
I woke up in a London hotel at about 5:00am. It was cold and wet, but the rain soon cleared up.
I got a taxi to Gatwick Airport, heade straight to the World Travel Airlines HQ and signed in.
I picked up the flight plan. London to Greece today, should take about three hours.
My Co-Pilot Al met up with me at 5:30am and we both headed to the 757 sat in gate 49 and boarded her.
We fired up the engines, got everybody on board and we were ready to set off at 6:22am.

Holding short of Runway 8L at London Gatwick. Time: 6:30am. Here goes!!

Early morning sunrise, beautiful scene.

Cruising at FL340. That's an oddly misshapen sun you got there! ;)

Looking over at former Yugoslavia, where part of my family came from.

On approach a turbulent approach to Athens. It doesn't look too god weatherwise down there....

On approach to Athens. Fighting a Cross/Headwind here, not very well lined up. Good old rudder!

Meant to be touching down here, but these darn crosswinds caused me to have to keep using the rudder. I literally JUST touched down on the runway at about 120kts. :o

Safely On the ground, still fighting the winds as they began to increase. Thank God I landed!
