Pole to pole! Part 2

Part one is here.

After a quick refuel; Edward lets me know he's keen to keep on going for Cambridge Bay. Fine by me - we're going to need to cover as much ground as possible before the long run into the Alaska wilderness. So with the engines still warm; we crank her over again and set off across the Northwest Passage.

Image Pulling away from the pumps.

Image Leaving Resolute Bay - and good riddance. What a dull place!

Image Out over the Northwest Passage. That's clearly Russel Island; off the north coast of Prince of Wales Island. So that puts me right over the little blue C on the map. ;)

Image The visibility is really annoying - but that's definitely the south coast of Victoria Island up ahead. Cambridge Bay is off to the right. I don't want to fly straight for it; I'd rather hit the coast then approach using the shoreline as a guide.

Image There's Cambridge Bay - barely two miles away and it's still barely visible. Lucky they have PAPIS.

Image On approach - through rain and a stiff headwind.

Image On the ground, taxiing to the pumps. This place is even duller than Resolute Bay!

By the way, do you know there's a bubble sextant gauge for navigation?

Another set of great shots Staiduk. I hope the the wall of that lake at Resolute Bay never breaks - the airfiled could get a little damp.

Looking forward to the next bunch.

Great idea, and good shots. Keep 'em coming...
I started an epic journey of my own a while back- trying to recreate the flight of the Vin Fiz in... the vin Fiz. Not too hard to fly (although vveeerrrryyyyy..... ssssslllloooowwwww.....), but trying to figure out Cal Rodgers' exact route, with the added problem that many of his stops were basically crashes, forced me to abandon that idea.
Lately I'm inspired to try something else on the epic scale; I like the idea of coming up with one's own route.
good luck, and happy landings!!
